The Members of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association and the Louisiana Bar Association have teamed up to provide legal services to the victims of Hurricane katrina.

It you have a Legal Question, please call the Young Lawyers Section Disaster Relief Committee at 1- 800-310-7029, weekdays from 8am-8pm. The committee will put you in touch with a volunteer attorney who can answer your question.

If you need Legal Assistance, it will be coordinated by Southwest Louisiana Legal Service Katrina Legal Project through Southwest Louisiana Legal Services at 337-436-3308 or 337-436-2914,or toll free 1-800-256-1955 and Acadiana Legal services at 337-439-0377 or toll free 1-877-856-0639, staff will try to put you in touch with attorneys who can assist you with your legal matters.

Parolees, probationers urged to check in

   The Lake Charles Probation and Parole Office says all probationers and parolees from southeastern Louisiana displaced by Hurricane Katrina should contact their office concerning their current housing situation.
   There are about 13,000 probationers and parolees and 400 or more sex offenders unaccounted from southeastern Louisiana alone, according to Glenn Hanks, local probation and parole supervisor,
   ?"We welcome out-of-state probationers and parolees as well,?" Hanks said.
   ?"My concern is that those displaced by this disaster will find themselves in violation of their parole. We want to work to prevent the red tape involved with that.?"
   The Probation and Parole Office is located at 991 Gerstner Memorial Blvd., and is open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays.
