The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) National Emergency Grant provides Hurricane Katrina evacuees temporary employment located within Local Workforce Investment Area 51 (Calcasieu, Cameron and Jeff Davis parishes) to assist dislocated workers who lived in or worked in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemine, St. Tammany and Washington Parishes. The dislocated workers may be placed in temporary jobs in public and non-profit entities that include projects that provide food, clothing, shelter and other humanitarian assistance for individuals struck by the disaster.
